Other programming issues

This section addresses specific issues that may arise during or after the programming process.

My other remotes stopped working after I programmed a new one

Some older garage door openers can only store a limited number of remotes (e.g., 6 remotes and 1 keypad). Programming a new remote may "kick out" others if the motor's memory is full.

To fix this, Erase all codes on the motor unit, then reprogram only the remotes and keypads you intend to use.

My neighbor's remote opens my garage door!

It is possible that your neighbor's remote was inadvertently programmed to your opener during the programming procedure.

Why it happens

The range for programming is the same as the range for operating—for some openers, this can be up to several hundred feet.

If your neighbor presses their remote while you are programming yours, their remote will be stored in your opener's memory, which causes the problem.

The solution is to reset your opener and reprogram your remotes, see steps below.

  1. Erase the memory of your garage door opener by pressing and holding the LEARN button until the Learn LED goes out (approximately 6 seconds).
  2. Reprogram only your intended remote controls and keypads.

WARNING

Erasing codes will clear ALL working remotes, keypads, and HomeLink transmitters. You will need to have all devices on hand to reprogram them after the reset.

Can I program different learn button colors (e.g., yellow and red) to the same remote?

Yes, you can program different types of openers to different buttons on the same multi-button remote.

For example, you can use one button for a yellow learn button opener and another for a red learn button opener.

Can I use the remote on my gate?

You can use our remote for a gate operator if:

  • The gate uses a compatible wireless system (check our compatibility list).
  • You have physical access to the gate's control panel, where the learn button is located.

Note: Please always consult your gate operator’s manual for specific pairing steps.
